Painting Chronicles! (Part 1)

It was after sunset that we reached the village with the colour and the brushes.  As usual it was quite, serene and peacefully dark awaiting the rise of the moon. Kids applauded with the arrival, they asked if I can do some dance like one past day  and I asked if we all could do a step and create a circle of new steps and that’s how we danced to the half-lit moon without any music but fireflies and owls.

Not much later than sunrise we drove on the misty wet road to Bondaiguda to reach our audacious learning centre and learn something more of the tribal wisdom, though not planned. As we reached a kid was applying some leaf’s white juice on her skin and that’s when I got to know Kudiye(kui language) leaf’s juice is applied on the wounds and pain to heal.
We found fennel seeds traditionally known as saunf is abundantly found in this village.
As always a day well learnt with a goodbye to meet next to start our painting drive!

With all the birds chirruping around the wilderness of Eastern Ghats in a small aloof village of Orissa a kid started playing music with the green bucket while he went to fetch a pale of water to mix with the paint. We’re painting the learning centre in Bondaiguda. None of us are trained painters but we are all trying to get the best white on the walls. Painting was not just another day of work but a portrayal of community support when two people and obviously children volunteered on painting. It was another day of love, togetherness and trust shared with the children. Jumping, holding hands and trusting each other for not letting go our hands when one drops their balance.
