This is our new co-worker, her name is Basanti.
Her father sent her all the way to Bhubaneshwar to study as he thought knowledge is important than everything else. He recalls one of the incidents when he forcefully dropped his crying daughter to the school in the next village called Jhigdi, which is 3 kms away from her house and those times villages were different with no roads and no transports available it took a lot of effort for her father to drop Basanti to the school.
He talked about how he struggled to earn.
He was a wood seller, he went around the villages on the bicycle and saved up for his daughter’s further education. Basanti is the oldest of her 3 siblings, of which two are boys but her father didn’t differentiate between a boy and a girl education.
